My journey as a writer began in the 6th grade, thanks to an English teacher named Ms. Virginia Hardy. She did more than assign essays and mark papers. She lit a spark in me that has never gone out. Ms. Hardy encouraged me to write poetry, to capture emotions in words, and, most importantly, to take stories I didn’t like and rewrite their endings. That small challenge opened a door to creativity I didn’t know I had.
Over the years, I wrote countless poems and stories. Some I shared, many I kept tucked away in notebooks and folders, afraid to let others read them. Writing, for me, was both an escape and a deeply personal act—something I cherished but wasn’t always ready to put out into the world.
At the end of 2023, with some gentle (and persistent) urging from friends, I made a decision that changed everything: I would begin publishing my work. I turned to Books.by and Amazon as platforms, and slowly began transforming those old stories into published works. It has been both humbling and exciting to see them move from hidden pages to something readers can hold in their hands.
Now, as I near the end of publishing my older stories, I’m preparing to turn the page and begin writing new ones. Some of these future tales will even revisit characters you’ve already met in my published works, expanding their journeys and revealing sides of them yet unseen.
This path has been a long one, rooted in a classroom many years ago, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Writing has always been part of me, and now I’m grateful to finally be sharing that part with you.
Closing Line:
Who was the person who first encouraged your creativity, and how has their influence stayed with you?
